Here’s a question we often receive about our linen nightwear: “How do I care for my linen nightie or robe.”
The answer is simple. Wash your linen along with like colors, toss in the dryer, and either hang or fold for your next use. There is no need to IRON! Or send to the cleaners.
There are some variations to this theme. Some customers tell me that they wash, as I have just described, then hang dry. Others tell me that they wash, then run through the dryer until partially dry, then hang to finish drying. Either way works.
One note is that when the garment is run through the dryer, there is a chaffing of the fabric that occurs as it tumbles along with other garments. This helps the garment to get softer with each wash. When hung to dry this obviously does not occur, but leaves the garment rather stiff.
Linen dries very quickly either way, so you may not need to run your dryer for as long as you would your cotton garments, or hang dry for that matter. This is especially useful if you are traveling, as you can wash your nightie in the sink, if you are desperate, and hang to dry.
